Kim Tops Opponent Again and Enters General Election with $200k Cash on Hand Advantage
Anaheim, CA – Congresswoman Young Kim today announced she has raised $1.15 million during the second quarter in the race for California’s 40th Congressional District and enters the general election with more than $1.7 million cash on hand. Kim outraised her opponent by more than $250,000 during the quarter and continues to maintain her cash-on-hand advantage of more than $200,000. She continues her fundraising dominance, having been the top fundraiser in the race for California’s 40th District in each quarter of the cycle.
“Our campaign continues to build incredible momentum in the general election because voters are responding to our message that it is time for a new generation of effective leadership,” said Congresswoman Young Kim. “I am grateful to every supporter who has invested in our campaign and helped us build the strongest financial position in this race. We have the resources to continue sharing our vision for our community, and I look forward to continuing to grow this campaign in the months ahead.”
Kim’s fundraising report comes just weeks after one of the most expensive Republican House primaries in California history, during which nearly $6 million was spent by outside groups affiliated with 34-year incumbent Ken Calvert attempting to distort Kim’s record, compared to just $573,000 spent by outside groups affiliated with Kim. Despite that unprecedented spending onslaught focused on knocking Kim out of the race, she advanced to the general election where she enjoys structural advantages having consistently outperformed other republicans on the ballot and having broad appeal with crossover voters. On the other hand, her opponent has consistently underperformed in general elections and had one of the largest down ballot underperformances of any California republican in the 2024 election.
Young Kim enters the general election with the resources necessary to continue communicating her record of delivering results for Southern California and her vision for a new generation of effective leadership.
