Internal Poll Shows a Strong Path to Victory for Rep. Kim who has a $2 Million Cash-on-Hand Advantage over Calvert

Anaheim, CA – Today, the Young Kim for Congress campaign released an internal poll showing Rep. Kim leading Ken Calvert overall and across key voting blocs that traditionally decide primaries.

The Public Opinion Strategies poll, which was conducted January 24th-27th among 400 likely primary voters, finds Kim leading Calvert on the initial ballot and holding strong advantages among Republicans, high-propensity voters, Trump voters, and seniors.

“Young Kim is a proven America First fighter, and voters trust her record of standing up to Gavin Newsom and the radical woke agenda,” said George Nassar, a partner at Public Opinion Strategies. “This poll confirms what we’re seeing every day on the ground: Congresswoman Kim has strong momentum, broad Republican support, and a clear path to victory.”

Key findings from the recent poll include:

  • Despite having represented less of the new district, Young Kim leads Ken Calvert among all likely voters.
  • Kim holds an overwhelming lead among Republicans in her current district (CA-40), while Ken Calvert’s support in his own district (CA-41) is notably softer, with one-in-five Republicans undecided.
  • Kim leads not only among Republicans but also among the highest-propensity voters (4 of 4 voters) and seniors.
  • Among Republicans who view both Young Kim and Ken Calvert favorably, Kim leads 54%-39%.

Kim recently added half a million dollars to her media buy, raising the total reservation to $3.75 million, the 2nd largest Republican ad reservation in the entire country. In the first month of 2026, Young Kim has raised over $600,000, after raising over $1.5 million in the 4th quarter of 2025, and has $5.5 million cash-on-hand. Kim outraised Calvert by over $500,000 in the same period and currently holds a $2 million cash-on-hand advantage.

Congresswoman Young Kim currently represents California’s 40th Congressional District that encompasses portions of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. Kim currently represents over 175,000 registered voters and over 42% of high-propensity Republican voters in the new 40th district. She serves on the House Financial Services Committee, House Foreign Affairs Committee, and House China Select Committee.
