New Ads Hit Air as Recent Polling Shows Race Moving Toward Kim
Anaheim, CA – The Young Kim for Congress campaign today announced the launch of its first general election advertising flight in California’s 40th Congressional District with two new ads running on broadcast, cable and digital platforms. The ads highlight Kim’s support for banning members of Congress from trading stocks and imposing congressional term limits, while drawing a contrast with Calvert’s more than three decades in Washington, his ethics controversies and the rising cost of living.
The first ad, titled “Rich,” highlights Kim’s efforts to crack down on congressional self-enrichment and her support for term limits.

The second ad, titled “30 Years,” focuses on Calvert’s decades in Washington and argues that California families are paying the price.

“Young Kim’s continuing momentum reflects voters tiring of do-nothing career politicians like Ken Calvert, who has been in Congress since 1993 and spent much of his career dogged by ethics controversies while working-class families have watched the cost of virtually everything go up,” said Young Kim spokesman Chris Pack. “After more than three decades of Calvert in Washington, voters are ready for someone who will change Washington instead of making a career out of it.”
Kim’s general election advertising comes as recent polling shows momentum moving in her direction. A mid-September poll featured in POLITICO’s California Playbook showed Kim leading Calvert 43 percent to 34 percent. The poll followed an internal Young Kim campaign survey from earlier in September that found the race essentially tied, with Calvert at 35 percent and Kim at 34 percent.
