Kim Out-Raises Opponent and Digital Fundraising Program Exceeds $2M Raised for Cycle
Yorba Linda, CA – Rep. Young Kim raised nearly $1.5 million in the FEC’s second quarter of 2022, bringing her total raised for the election cycle to $6.75 million. This marks the strongest quarter ever for Congresswoman Kim, and confirms her place as one of the most prolific fundraisers in all of Congress.
With the June 7th primary election over and all votes officially counted, Young Kim enters the general election as the clear frontrunner. The Republican vote aggregate in the primary totaled 59%, compared to her Democratic opponent Asif Mahmood’s 41%, and from a fundraising perspective, Rep. Kim out-raised Mahmood by over 660,000, who raised slightly under $800,000 this quarter and holds a cash-on-hand advantage over him.
Young Kim raised over $432,000 from contributions under $200, compared to Mahmood $62,000, showing her vast grassroots support and Mahmood’s reliance on high-dollar donors. Since announcing his candidacy, small dollar contributions account for only 3% of Mahmood’s total fundraising.
Last week Rep. Kim’s campaign’s digital fundraising program raised its $2 millionth dollar over the 2022 election cycle, with an average contribution amount of about $18 dollars. This achievement places Rep. Young Kim’s small-dollar fundraising program amongst the highest performing of any member of Congress on either side of the aisle.
